The history of Egyptian bracelets is as old as 5000 BCE. Starting with materials like bones, stones and woods to serve religious and spiritual interests. From the National Geographic Society, the Scarab Bracelet is one of the most recognized symbols of ancient Egypt. The scarab represented rebirth and regeneration. Carved scarabs were worn as jewelry and wrapped into the linen bandages of mummies. Myth told of the scarab god, Khepri, pushing the sun across the sky.
In the later 90′s Rubber Band Bracelets became popular. People would take the thick rubber bands that you get wrapped around broccoli and asparagus at the grocery store and wear them as a bracelet. Spotting a potential consumer hit, many companies started making and selling these types of Rubber Band Bracelets printed with a variety of messages. Most of the messages were just “cute” saying things like “Hottie” or “I Love You”, but many large companies caught on to the trend and would get them made with commercial messages. This trend didn”t last too long though, because rubber bands are made of real rubber, and therefore kind of uncomfortable: they can snap on you, get stuck to your skin or hair, and over time the rubber breaks down and they fall apart.
Some humanity bracelets are used for the special causes, purposes and occasions and thus can be classified accordingly. Some bracelets are medical alert bracelets. Another type of bracelets is the friendship bracelets. These bracelets are used to give as a gift to your friends. Some bracelets are magnet bracelets which are used for hand, wrist, arm, and shoulder pain. Magnetic bracelets influence blood flow at the wrist arteries and stimulate acupressure points on the wrist area to give relief from pain in the wrist or hand.
The position of all humans in this current world involves a myriad of responses to the way in which our world is shaped as it relates to our position in life. Academically, we exist in a micro system of self and family that begin to shape the collective consciousness that we use to live, grow, love, work and play. I am not always sure, no matter our starting point, if we get a view of life that leaves room for understanding of ourselves and the people that surround us. In short, who am I? Why and I here? What am I supposed to do with the tools I have at my disposal? Who are the people that direct my path? What makes me listen to them? What makes me grow to disbelieve their guidance? All worthy questions to ask in my educated opinion. In future posts, we will begin to unravel these questions systematically.
